Hyaluronic acid - you have certainly heard or read about this ingredient and its effect, be it on shampoo bottles or cream jars. But what does this term actually mean, what is the advertised miracle cure good for and what can it actually do?
hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid refers to a substance that is produced naturally in the body, which occurs both in the cells and in the spaces between cells and occurs in two different forms: long-chain and short-chain.
Hyaluronic acid is mainly responsible for storing water. One gram of acid can bind six liters of water. Long-chain hyaluronic acid influences the upper skin layer, cushions it and thus tightens and smoothes the skin. Short-chain ones, on the other hand, have an effect on a balanced water balance in the deep layers of the skin and produce positive long-term effects. A combination is ideal for anti-aging and is therefore in almost all products against skin aging.
